The Bluffs Happenins’

11-4-2025  Rita and I are still in PA but are busy closing up the house and packing.  We will arriving  to the Kingdom on Thursday   Nov 6th just in time for the Hackers reunion at The Bluffs on Sat Nov 8th.  I can't wait since it's too damn cold in PA

12-25-2025  I really must apologize to y’all for not updating the “Happenins’” before now but life has been hectic the last couple of months.  It is Christmas mornin’ and Rita is busy preparing a dinner for my sister and husband so I have some free time this morning.

We did return to Florida as planned and the Bluffs reunion on 11/8. Florida’s weather has been  spectacular although extremely dry.  We have been playing every Tuesday and Saturday since we returned and our numbers are slowly increasing from 5 to 6 up to  8 to 10 players as the snowbirds are coming back to roost.  We hope to get that number up to 12 to 16 once the season gets into full swing.

.

As you can see, Eddie O has started making the trek up from Babcock Ranch for the Tuesday rounds and Tim Wood has returned from Virginia and will not be moving around this winter. Speaking of Tim, on December 20 he had an eagle on the 18th hole at The Bluffs …drove the green and sank a 3 foot putt.!!!

Hap was able to come out in Nov and play 9 holes…had 3 pars.

Ned is the last of the Bedford gang…we expect him in Jan 4 or 5 and will have to get him in shape for the $5 games

As for the course, it is in pretty good shape considering the weather.  We have been enjoying sunny skies and perfect temps for golf but  Southwest Florida is under a severe drought warning and has been for several weeks…the fairways and ruffs are very dry and the greens are slowly recovering from some upgrades that were done this summer.

2-13-2026   I'm back to update the happenin's at the Bluffs.  Here we are in mid Feb and into high season with all  the snowbirds here.  Both the Tues and Sat groups have grown to about 12 players on each day but not all the same people. The course is extremely dry ... no major rain since we arrived in Nov...the greens and tees are in pretty good shape but the rest of the course is brown and very hard...makes for long drives.  The last couple of weeks in Jan were extremely cold...not chilly ... damn cold...even with frost on several mornings.  It seems that now  we have turned the corner with afternoon temps in the low 80's....BUT still no rain in the forecast.  It sure is bringing out the golfers and rate of play has drastically slowed down.

4-6-2026   Rita and I have returned to PA...we left Florida March 31... To typical spring time weather. We hate to see the winter season come to an end but the summer PA Hackers will begin April 15. This is the last post from me from Florida until some time in October. We hope the Florida Hackers have a fantastic summer.
